How to Remove and Replace HP 246 Laptop Screen?

  • Disconnect the AC Adapter from your laptop. Unlock and remove the battery.
  • Use your fingers and pull the bezel carefully from the display assembly.
  • Remove two screws on the top of the display assembly.
  • Disconnect one cable from the web camera module.
  • Remove two screws from right side mounting bracket.
  • Remove two screws from left side mounting bracket.
  • Now remove the display cable from the backside of screen.

Install new screen using the same procedure in reverse order and plug the AC adapter to check the display.If everything is ok then complete the fitting and your laptop is ready for use.

HP 246 Laptop Screen Installation Instructions?

Remove all the Power sources (e.g.the battery and the AC adapter) before proceeding with the removal and installation.All LCD screens with LED backlight get power from motherboard through LCD Cable only and the power is supplied to the screen even if the laptop is switched OFF. If you remove or install the screen without removing battery and ac adapter then it may cause problem with motherboard and screen both.Press and Hold the power ON / OFF button for 15 seconds to drain residual current on the motherboard after removing battery and adapter.

It is most important to note that the LCD cable connector should not slanted during removal and re-installation. Use both hands to pull the connector smoothly in straight manner.When reconnecting the cable, make sure not to plug it in upside down because it will not work and it will short the pins and your screen may get damaged so be patient during this process.
